I submitted a form on the Montana Legal Justice, PLLC, website to request legal assistance.  Does this mean I now have an attorney representing me on my legal matter?

No.  When you complete the form on “Get Legal Help” page, you are only requesting to have an attorney to call you to discuss your legal matter, either over the phone or in-person.  To enter into an attorney-client agreement, you will need to sign a separate attorney-client retainer agreement.  Please be aware that this website is not designed to give you legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

What is limited scope representation or “unbundled” legal services?

In March 2011, the Supreme Court of Montana changed the rules to allow lawyers to provide “unbundled” or limited scope representation legal services.  This means that lawyers can now work on certain parts of your case, while you work on other parts of your case.  The purpose of this change is to enable individuals who previously could not afford a lawyer for an entire legal matter to now obtain legal assistance for very specific matters, such as drafting a parenting plan or representing you during a hearing.  Contact Montana Legal Justice, PLLC, if you would like to speak to an attorney about limited legal representation.

What is the Modest Means program?

The Modest Means program is run by the State Bar of Montana to help low- and moderate-income Montanans obtain affordable legal representation in certain civil matters.  Please contact Montana Legal Services or the State Bar of Montana to apply.

Montana Legal Justice, PLLC, is a member of the Modest Means program but reserves the right to accept or decline eligible Modest Mean clients as necessary.

I am eligible for the Modest Means program – does this mean I get free legal services?

No.  Eligible Modest Means clients may receive legal services at a reduced rate at Montana Legal Justice, PLLC.

Montana Legal Justice, PLLC, lawyers are not required to provide legal services just because an individual is eligible for the Modest Means program.  If an attorney decides to accept the case, the Modest Means client must still pay for legal services, but at a reduced rate.  For more information about alternative payment options, please contact us to set-up an appointment.
